Blogging and SEOYes, everyone loves the idea of a Web site full of news and information, but when it comes to Web site owners and their own sites, well, many times they just don’t care. Or they don’t think they can write, or, well, they just don’t have the time.

But did you you know that updating your site regularly, or adding tidbits of news, helps you get higher on the search engines? No, it doesn’t mean changing that one little word on the home page. It means adding bits of news, such as what I’m doing now.

You don’t have to be an author to get your point across, nor do you need countless hours to say something. You are not writing the word’s greatest novel. Once you stop trying to perfect your delivery, the rest will fall into place. I used to think that blogging was for egomaniacs who thought everyone and their mothers are curious to know about their inner fears and ambitions. And while I don’t care if John Doe is feeling proud, I wouldn’t mind knowing if John Doe’s restaurant is now offering fresh mahi mahi for dinner.

If you want people to visit your Web site often, give them a reason. Either upload new photos, or provide new bits of information. People can get all creative on social media sites like Facebook, but can’t think of a thing to write on their own sites. So stop posting everything on Facebook and take the time to add something to yours. The search engines will see it, and that will help you get more visitors to your Web site.

In a future post I will get into how you can write SEO friendly blogs to accomplish this. Because SEO for blogging is not just about what you say, it’s how you say it.
